Twitter is far more lenient on policing sensitive content than most mainstream social media networks. However, media containing violence or nudity isn’t immediately on display. Instead, Twitter will restrict media with a warning about its potential sensitive content.

While you can disregard the warning and simply click “View” on the desired content, it can be frustrating to do this for every video. You can tweak your Twitter settings and immediately see sensitive content without restrictions. Keep reading to learn more.

How to View Sensitive Content in Twitter on a PC

The Twitter web client is a powerful control center that allows you to access the full set of features this social media site offers. Among other things, you can turn the sensitivity off in a few clicks.

1. From your Twitter homepage, tap the “More” button on the menu to your left.
   
2. Click on the “Settings and Privacy” tab.
   
3. Go to the “Privacy and Safety” section.
   
4. Press the “Content you see” tab under the “Your Twitter activity” section.
   
5. Select the “Display Media That May Contain Sensitive Content” checkbox.
   

After successfully completing the steps, you’ll immediately be able to see tweets containing sensitive content.

These tweets are usually hidden from searches. If you have some content in mind and want to be able to look for it quickly, you can enable sensitive tweets during searches.

1. Repeat steps 1-4.
2. Tap the “Search settings” button.
   
3. In the pop-up window, uncheck the box next to “Hide sensitive content.”
   

How to View Sensitive Content in Twitter on an iPhone

When scrolling through the Twitter timeline on your iPhone, it can get annoying to constantly unblock potentially sensitive media. Especially when you consider that Twitter frequently mislabels media as sensitive. To avoid the hassle of unlocking each video individually, you can turn off the sensitive content warning altogether.

Unfortunately, this option isn’t available in the iPhone Twitter app. Instead, you’ll need to change the settings on the web.

1. Go to your “Profile” on the menu to the left of your homepage.
   
2. Tap the “Settings and Privacy” tab.
   
3. Click “Privacy and Safety.”
   
4. Tap the “Content you see” tab under the “Your Twitter activity” section.
   
5. Enable the “Display Media That May Contain Sensitive Content” checkbox.
   

Once you reopen Twitter on your iPhone, you’ll be able to see sensitive content with no warnings. However, you still won’t be able to search for such content. To change this, do the following.

1. Repeat steps 1-4.
2. Press the “Search settings” button.
3. In the pop-up window, disable the “Hide sensitive content” checkbox.

How to View Sensitive Content in Twitter on an Android Device

Unlike iPhone, the Twitter for Android app offers you the option to turn off the sensitivity filter straight from your mobile device. The process is relatively quick, as it involves five simple steps.

1. Depending on your device, tap your profile icon or the hamburger icon in the top-left corner.
   
2. Go to “Settings and Privacy.”
   
3. Tap “Privacy and Safety” under your username.
   
4. Scroll down to the “Content you see” section.
   
5. Turn the “Display Media That May Contain Sensitive Content” toggle button on.
   

The sensitive content will now be on display on your Twitter timeline. But you won’t be able to find it when using the search bar. Luckily, there’s also a quick fix for this.

1. Repeat steps 1-4.
2. Go to “Search settings.”
   
3. Uncheck the box next to “Hide sensitive content.”
   

How to View Sensitive Content in Twitter on an iPad

If you prefer tweeting from your iPad, you sadly can’t do anything about the sensitive media warning from your device. This doesn’t mean you can’t get rid of this pesky warning. You simply need to log into your account on Twitter’s website.

1. Navigate to the “More” button on the left panel of your Twitter homepage.
   
2. Go to the “Settings and Privacy” tab.
   
3. Tap “Privacy and Safety.”
   
4. Click on the “Content you see” tab under “Your Twitter activity.”
   
5. Enable the “Display Media That May Contain Sensitive Content” checkbox.
   

Now you can go back to your iPad Twitter app and continue scrolling with no content warnings. If you’d also like to remove the limitations Twitter imposes on searching for sensitive content, do as follows.

1. Repeat steps 1-4.
2. Go to “Search settings.”
3. Disable the “Hide sensitive content” checkbox.

While most major platforms typically crack down on sensitive content, Twitter has been known—and loved—for its looser grip on the shared content. As long as the tweeted media doesn’t display anything illegal, it’s usually allowed to stay on, though hidden behind a warning message.
