Have you ever encountered a video you liked so much, you wanted everyone you know to see it? If you’re on TikTok, your answer is probably a resounding yes, as the app is filled with endless fun. However, the Repost button not showing up can put a damper on this fun-sharing activity.

Repost Not Showing in TikTok? Here's How To Fix

If you’re wondering why you can’t repost a video on TikTok, you’ve come to the right place. Keep reading to find out what can cause the Repost button to not show up—and how to fix it.

Outdated App

Regular updates are essential for the optimal functioning of an app. TikTok is no different, as each update either brings about improvements or fixes existing issues. If you haven’t set up automatic updates for TikTok on your mobile device, you might not be able to see the newest developments the app has to offer.

The repost option is relatively new, so it might not show up for you until you update your TikTok app.

How to Update TikTok on Android

Manually updating TikTok on your Android is a relatively straightforward process. As the Play Store is Android’s app management tool, that’s where we’re heading to find some answers.

  1. Launch the Play Store.
  2. Tap on your profile icon.
  3. Select “Manage apps & device.”
  4. Go to “Updates available.”
  5. Scroll down until you find “TikTok.”
  6. Click on the “Update” button on the right.

Once the update process is completed, launch TikTok and check if the yellow repost button is back where it’s supposed to be.

If TikTok doesn’t appear on the list of apps that need updates, you’re running the latest app version. In this case, you’ll need to investigate further to figure out why you’re having issues with the repost option.

How to Update TikTok on an iPhone

TikTok keeps its users pretty busy with regular updates introducing new features. You should keep your app updated to experience everything it has to offer. Here’s how to manually check for updates on your iPhone:

  1. Open the App Store.
  2. Type “TikTok” in the search bar at the top of the screen.
  3. Click on it to open the app’s menu.
  4. Tap the “Update” button.

If you can’t see the “Update” button, your app is up to date. This means the repost option not showing up has nothing to do with the app version you’re running.

If you’ve gone through our steps successfully and updated the app, it’s time to go back to TikTok. Find the video you’d like to share with your followers and check if updating the app brought back the repost option.

Feature Not Available for You

Like many other apps, TikTok introduces new major updates gradually. The app developers typically make the app available to a select number of users during the testing phase. After testing the feature thoroughly and receiving feedback, they roll it out universally.

If you can’t find the repost option on your TikTok app, it might not be available for you just yet. Check with your friends from the same country, and be patient. We’re sure you’ll be able to enjoy this feature in no time.

Video Not Available for Repost

Suppose you’re sure your TikTok app is updated and the repost feature is available in your country. In that case, it’s time to shift our attention from the app to the video you’d like to share.

The repost option isn’t available for just any video on TikTok. Currently, the only videos you can share with your followers using this option are videos you find on your “For You” page.

So, if you’ve watched a riveting TikTok but can’t seem to find the repost button anywhere, you need to retrace your steps. Figuring out where you found the video might be the puzzle piece you’re missing.

The Discover Tab

TikTok makes it easy to lose yourself in the scrolling and forget how you even got to the video you’re currently watching. Luckily, you can quickly check if you’re on the “Discover” page.

Just click the “Back” button to return to the previous screen. If you see the “Discover” page, you’ve got your answer. The repost option is not available for videos you find there.

The Following Tab

Scrolling through your “Home” page looks identical, regardless of whether you’re browsing the “Following” or the “For You” tabs. For this reason, you might forget you’re not actually on your “For You” page.

This wouldn’t be a problem if you could repost videos from both tabs. Unfortunately, the Repost button won’t show up if the video you like is on your “Following” page.

To check this, just take a glance at the top of your screen. If the “Following” button is enlarged, you won’t be able to repost any videos you’ve encountered while scrolling on that page.

The Inbox Tab

Sometimes you might get so caught up in a TikTok video that you forget you didn’t actually find it. Instead, someone sent it to you.

Sadly, you can’t pass this joy forward just yet. TikTok doesn’t currently allow reposting videos you’ve received in your inbox.

Just tap the “Back” button to ensure this is the case. If your inbox chat with a friend pops up, the video they sent you will have to remain between you two for now.

Share the Fun

There’s arguably no better feeling than realizing your friends also enjoy a video you particularly like. If you can’t use the TikTok Repost button just yet, follow our guide to understand why. Until the feature is made available to you, you can always share the fun by manually sending the video to your friends.
