FAQs
Who can tag me on Facebook?
Anyone with a Facebook account can tag you in posts, comments, and photos. It’s not necessary for them to be friends with you. This tag will be visible to your friends and also to the audience of the person who tagged you. Tags from people you aren’t friends with could be flagged and will appear in your notifications. Depending on your privacy settings, you can then choose to approve the tag or decline it.
Can I choose who can tag me?
Yes. You can set up rules as to who can tag you on Facebook by selecting what type of notifications you receive. To learn how to set up tagging notifications, follow these steps:
1. Go to “Settings & privacy.”
2. Select “Settings.”
3. From the left column, tap “Notifications” and then “Tags.”
From here you can decide which audience can tag you. By selecting “Anyone,” all Facebook members can tag you. If you select “Friends,” then only those you are friends with will be able to tag you without you approving the tag first.
Can I preview photo tags before being tagged in them?
Yes. There’s nothing more embarrassing than being tagged in a photo where you may not be looking your best. By modifying your settings, you can set things up where you’ll need to first approve a tag before it’s made public. This works for photos, posts, and comments.
