How to Remove Quick Add on Snapchat

If you’re new to Snapchat but not social media platforms in general, then the Quick Add feature should be more than familiar to you. Think of it as Facebook’s list of friend suggestions.

How to Remove Quick Add on Snapchat

The Quick Add feature is Snapchat’s way of suggesting users to people with similar interests or contacts. Its algorithm is a bit unclear, which is why not all the suggestions are worth taking into account. This article has all you need to know about quick add, including how to disable it as a feature and how to prevent yourself from showing up on someone else’s Quick Add list.

Turn off Quick Add

If you don’t want to get assaulted with too many friend requests, you might want to consider turning off Quick Add. Here’s how you can do it:

  1. Open Snapchat.
  2. Tap your profile picture.
  3. Tap the gear icon.
  4. Scroll down through the Settings menu until you reach the Who Can… section.
  5. Tap See me in Quick Add.
  6. Uncheck the option.

However, this won’t prevent Snapchat from still showing you suggestions for other people you might want to add via the Quick Add feature. This method only prevents your account from popping up on other people’s lists.

Note that a friend request sent via Quick Add won’t be blocked by the settings you make in the Contact Me menu.

Disable Quick Add Notifications

Most people probably just tap the X next to the suggested profiles and move on with their day. While there’s nothing wrong with that, it’s worth knowing that there’s a faster way to go around Snapchat’s friends suggestions feature.

If you want to receive fewer friend suggestions, you need to change the app’s permissions In the notifications section of your account.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Open Snapchat.
  2. Tap your profile picture.
  3. Tap the gear icon.
  4. Tap Notifications.
  5. Uncheck Friend Suggestions.

There’s no section dedicated specifically to Quick Add suggestions. However, since all those suggestions appear as notifications, turning off friend suggestions notifications should do the trick.

This will, in theory, prevent Snapchat from sending you any friend suggestions for you to quick-add to your friends list even though you may have shared interests or common friends with those people.

Who Might End up in Your Quick Add List?

There’s no telling how exactly Snapchat’s algorithm factors in various metrics to get the results it does. However, there are a couple of obvious metrics that are taken into account.

For example, if you have someone’s phone number in your contact list but haven’t added them yet to your Snapchat friends list, that person might end up as a Quick Add suggestion.

Friends of your friends may also end up on this list, and so might the people that you spend time with in various groups.

Two More Privacy Tips

Depending on how you value your Snapchat activity or how you are as a person, outgoing or private, you should consider the following privacy settings options too.

The Who Can Contact Me option allows you to set some restrictions regarding who can send you Snaps and who can send you messages.

Using the My Friends option is probably best if you’re a private person. On the other hand, if you’re more outgoing and if you’re looking to meet as many people as you can on Snapchat, then use the Everyone option.

That way, everyone that comes across one of your snaps or comments can send you a request, a Snap, and a group invite.

To Quick Add or Not to Quick Add

There’s no denying that the Quick Add feature can be a great way to meet new people. At the same time, it’s often more annoying than useful to those that think their list of friends is too long as it is.

Sorry, all if your suggestions are pointless! I have done it all and yet snapchat assaults me daily with literally hundreds of friend suggestions that I have to dismiss. I have begged them to stop but no luck. I find this very rude of them.

December 2020, this does not work. I have tried multiple methods but every time I open snapchat dozens of new suggestions appear no matter what I do. Please update a fix

I’m glad I found this string. I am new to SnapChat. I cannot find a certain feature that I would love to turn off. I’ve noticed that when I go to “add Friends” I can see my relative’s friends and these people are not even a contact in my cell phone. I want to DISABLE the feature of allowing my relatives to add my friends and vice versa. For the most part I am a private person, I don’t even have a Facebook or Twitter account. I want to keep everyone in my contacts separate from each other. I don’t want my family knowing my friends and vice versa. Please help!

I have the exact same, problem. I see people who I don’t even know, and no matter how long I spend “hiding” them, it keeps populating over and over again.
