How To Change Profile Picture in Webex

With many social media platforms and video conferencing services today, you don’t have a profile picture when you first make your account. These services normally have a default image – sometimes your initials – standing in as your profile picture until you decide to change it. You’re then free to swap it for anything you want.

How To Change Profile Picture in Webex

In this article, you’ll find out how to change your profile picture on Webex. We’ll cover the different scenarios where this can happen. You’ll also find the answer to some questions related to Webex.

How to Change Your Webex Profile Picture on a PC

As Team

On your Webex site, you can change your profile picture from your initials or an older image to a new one. All you need to do is to log onto your Webex site. These are the steps to take on PC:

  1. Sign in to your Webex site on a PC.
  2. Select your name, which can be found at the top-right corner.
  3. Select “My Profile” from the list of options.
  4. When you see your initials or old profile picture, click the “Change” button in the lower part.
  5. Select “Upload Picture.”
  6. Browse for a picture you want to upload.
  7. If needed, you can select just a portion of an image to use as your profile picture.
  8. Select “Save.”
  9. You will now have your new profile picture displayed in meetings and on the site.

For images that are too large, you can use a slider to zoom in and reposition the image. This allows you to choose the best portions of the larger image to use as your profile picture. This happens when your image is larger than 720 x 720.

Your image should also be less than five MB, as large files will slow down loading times. This is done to increase website efficiency.

If you’re on mobile, the steps are as follows:

  1. Launch the Webex app on your mobile device.
  2. Tap your profile or the initials in a circle.
  3. Select “Edit.”
  4. Select “Choose Existing Photo.”
  5. Locate the new profile picture and then select it.
  6. Select “Done” when you’re finished with the new profile picture.

The options may be labeled differently if you’re on Android or iOS. However, the basic idea is the same, and you just have to pick a profile picture.

As Guest

Guest users aren’t allowed to change profile pictures, since they don’t have a Webex account. They’re stuck with the initials in a circle just as new users are assigned. This is because guests are generally using outside email accounts that aren’t connected to Webex.

Guests are told to enter their names when they join a meeting, which is where the initials come in. Since the idea behind “guest” status is that they’re visitors to the site, there’s no way to change guests’ profile pictures, since they don’t have one in the first place.

How to Remove a Webex Profile Picture

While you can always swap your profile picture from one image to another, there’s no way to remove it completely. You can’t go back to the initials in a circle that appeared when you set up your first account. As such, you can only switch profile pictures from that point on.

Contacting customer support and asking them to remove your profile picture doesn’t work either. In the past, there was a Classic View for Webex where users could remove their profile pictures. However, support for that was removed back in 2019.

Today, you’re only able to use Webex in Modern View. All Webex sites, no matter how old they are, have lost the ability to switch views. As such, the ability to remove profile pictures completely is now gone.

That’s a Beautiful Picture

Knowing how to change your Webex profile picture allows you to personalize your account. If you’re not a fan of the initials in a circle, all you need to do is swap it out. But be warned that you can’t delete a profile icon, only replace them.

Do you wish that Cisco Webex would bring back deleting profile pictures? How often do you switch profile pictures? Tells us in the comments section below.
