How To Add Answers in Google Forms on a PC
Before inserting an answer key into your Form, you have to decide which types of questions it will display. Depending on how you want the students to respond, you can choose from the following options.
- Short answer
- Multiple choice
- Checkbox
- Multiple choice grids
- Checkbox grids
You can create an answer key for all of the above options. If you want the students to give long-form answers, making an answer key will yield no results. In those cases, you must evaluate each response individually to determine its accuracy.
After determining what type of question the Form will contain, it’s time to create an answer key. The process is relatively straightforward. Here’s what you need to do on your PC.
- Head to the Google Forms web page and open a blank form.
- Select the “Settings” tab and choose the “Make this a quiz” option.
- Return to the “Questions” section to insert the quiz questions.
- Pick the appropriate question type from the list of options.
- Add the questions and type the possible answers.
- After inserting each question, go to the bottom of the question box and click on the “Answer Key” button.
- Select or enter the correct answers.

How to Add Answers in Google Forms on an iPhone
Currently, there’s no iOS version of Google Forms. However, the web-based version is compatible with iPhones, and you can use the mobile device to make quizzes with answer keys.
Note that not all questions can contain answers. For example, long-form responses allow students to express what they’ve learned creatively, and educators need to review them manually. However, you can still insert answers into the following question types.
- Multiple choice

Once you know which question type works best for the quiz content, you can rely on your iPhone to make an engaging test with answers. These instructions will help you complete the task.
- Open the Google Forms site from your preferred web browser and start a blank form.

Although answer keys don’t work with long-form questions, you can still help students improve by attaching answer feedback. Remember to use the “Add answer feedback” option under the question box to explain why the response was incorrect. Make sure to link to a resource that explains the concept clearly so the student can absorb the correct information.
Also, remember to check the “Settings” tab. Review the “Respondent settings” and see whether the “Missed Questions,” “Correct Answers,” and “Point Values” features are activated. They allow students to see all incorrect and correct responses and their overall scores.
How to Add Answers in Google Forms on an Android
Google is yet to roll out an Android version of Google Forms. Although there’s no app you can use on your small screen, the web-based version operates well on mobile devices. You can access most of the platform’s features, including inserting answer keys.
Remember that you can only set up answer keys for the following question types:
- Checkboxes
- Checkbox grids
- Short answer
- Multiple choice
- Multiple choice grids
Tweaking your quiz and adding answers is relatively quick and easy. Here’s how you can do so from your Android smartphone.
- Go to Google Forms from your web browser and create a new form.
- Hit the “Settings” tab and press “Make this a quiz.”
- Go back to “Questions” and click on the appropriate question type.
- Enter the questions and add the possible answers in the bottom half of the question box.
- Head to the lower end of the screen and tap the “Add Answers” option.
- Choose the correct answers.
- Navigate to the upper part of the screen and select how many points each question weighs.
- Press the “Add answer feedback” to elaborate on the answer further.
- Type an explanation or link to an educational website or video.
Although answer keys aren’t suitable for long-form responses, the “Add answer feedback” option can help you resolve this issue. When reviewing the tests manually, you can tap incorrect responses and clarify topics the respondent struggled with the most.
Before signing off your Form as complete, head to the “Settings” tab and find the “Respondent settings” section. Check the “Correct Answers,” “Missed Questions,” and “Point Values” features. When activated, they allow respondents to review their results. They can see which answers were correct and incorrect and receive their overall grade.
