The world of Genshin Impact is full of hidden wonders, and the music is conducive for exploring those wonders. In April 2021, the game developers introduced a way for players to take part in the music of this wonderous world with the Windblume Festival. During this Event, players were able to obtain the Windsong Lyre to make music of their own.
What good is a Lyre, though, if you don’t know how to play it?
Regardless of if you attended the event or not, acquiring a lyre is easy enough and worth it. There are plenty of songs to play on it, from classics to lively tunes. Keep reading to find out how to create your own music in Genshin Impact.
How Do You Get the Windsong Lyre?
The Windblume Festival in April 2021 allowed players to earn Tour Tickets in exchange for a Windsong Lyre. Players obtained the Tickets by playing minigames like Ballads of Breeze and Floral Freefall. After earning 280 Tour Tickets, players were able to exchange them for their very own Windsong Lyre.
If you missed the Windblume Festival, no worries, you can still obtain Windsong Lyres. With a recent update to the game, players can now purchase one from Marjorie in Mondstadt for 150,000 Mora.
Playing the Windsong Lyre
You can play the Windsong Lyre on PC by utilizing different keys. For example, the highest notes are from Q to U, the middle notes are A to J, and the lowest notes are Z to M on the keyboard.
On a console, the notes are mapped to the D-pad and four buttons on the right. To switch from higher to lower notes, you can press L1 and R1, respectively.
If you’re playing on a mobile device, all the notes are displayed onscreen. They’re divided into three rows for three octaves.
The Lyre doesn’t have access to semitones, or half-notes, though. Due to this limitation, the Lyre can’t play every song in the world, and you may have to adjust them accordingly.
How to Use the Lyre Bot in Genshin Impact
There’s a program called LyreBot made by a person who goes by “ianespana” on GitHub and u/Heracles421 on Reddit. LyreBot works by playing MIDI files as keystrokes in Genshin Impact. It’s effectively a macro program that works with the game’s Windsong Lyre.
LyreBot only works on PC since it responds to keyboard strokes, and the creator has only intended it for PC use.
To use LyreBot for Genshin Impact, follow these instructions:
- Download LyreBot from the GitHub page.
- Launch Genshin Impact and log into the game.
- Equip the Windsong Lyre.
- Run LyreBot.exe.
- LyreBot doesn’t need installation, so you only have to run it when you want to use it.
- Select the file icon at the top-left corner and browse for a MIDI file.
- Click the large Play button in the middle.
- Go back to the Genshin Impact window by pressing Alt + Tab or clicking it.
- When you switch back to Genshin Impact, LyreBot will play the song you loaded.
LyreBot also works with external MIDI devices like keyboards and electronic wind instruments. To use a MIDI device, follow these steps to get started:
- Launch both Genshin Impact and LyreBot.
- In Genshin Impact, equip your Windsong Lyre.
- Go back to LyreBot and select the drop-down menu labeled MIDI Input Device.
- Select your instrument, if it doesn’t appear, you can press the refresh button beside the menu.
- Once the MIDI device appears, you can use it to play music in Genshin Impact.
LyreBot is a great idea, but according to the Terms of Service, third-party software is forbidden. If you intend to play Genshin Impact with LyreBot, then you do so at your own risk. The possible outcomes if you’re caught are:
- Removing any ill-gotten rewards from the game (not applicable to LyreBot)
- Suspending your accounts temporarily
- Permanently banning your accounts
While LyreBot is a third-party software, it doesn’t manipulate the game’s code in any way. Some claim that the bot doesn’t violate the Terms of Service, but “…to exploit the game” is very vague. So, you may want to be careful when using LyreBot or any other third-party software in the game.
