Have you ever wondered how you can play old Wordle games after completing the newest daily challenge? Whether you just started playing or have an extensive Wordle journey behind you, your answer is most likely positive.

How to Play Old Wordle Games

And this is exactly why you’ve landed on the right page. In this article, we explain whether it’s possible to play previous Wordle games (yes!) and share three different methods to help you do just that. So without further ado, let’s dive right in.

Is It Possible to Play Previous Wordle Puzzles?

Since Wordle is an online game and is available to everyone with an internet connection, there is a way to access previous Wordle challenges. Specifically, there are three main ways you can achieve this:

  • Changing the time and date on your device of choice
  • Using a handy Wordle-related Chrome extension
  • Using an unofficial website with a Wordle archive

Continue reading to find out more about each method.

First Method: Changing the Time and Date on Your Device

The official Wordle website has a database of all the previous challenges, as well as a few unreleased puzzles prepared for the future. Therefore, if you manage to change the time on your device, you will be able to access previous games on the official website. Keep in mind that this adjustment is made differently depending on your device.

Note: After adjusting the time and date to your preference, you can go to the official Wordle website and solve the puzzle for the date you chose. It is important to remember that the main rule of playing a single game per day will still be effective. This means that you will have to change the date every time you want to solve a different puzzle.

Another important note is that the first puzzle Wordle was released on June 19, 2021. Make sure not to set your date to a later time because otherwise, you will not be able to play the game.

Below, we share instructions on accessing old Wordle games for PC, Mac, Android, and iPhone users.

For Windows PC Users

If you are using a Windows device, follow the steps below.

  1. Open the “Settings” app by clicking on the “Settings” icon or by simultaneously pressing the “Windows” key and the “I” key.
  2. Click on the “Time & Language” option.
  3. Turn off the “Set Time Automatically” setting and click “Change.” By doing this, you will be able to select the time and date manually.

For Mac Users

  1. Open “System Preferences” by clicking on the Apple icon in the Menu bar.
  2. Select “Date & Time.”
  3. Before choosing your preferred date, click on the lock icon on the following screen. By doing this, you’ll be able to change the date and time on your device.
  4. Enter your Administrator password.
  5. Click on “Unlock” and uncheck the “Set date and time automatically” box. Do not forget to select the “Save” button to enable the changes.

For Android Users

Changing the time and date on an Android is fairly simple. All you have to do is follow the steps below:

  1. Go to “Additional Settings” located within the “Settings” app.
  2. Select “Date & time.”
  3. Turn off the “Use network-provided time” toggle and adjust the date and time to your desire.
  4. Press the “OK” icon to save your changes.

For iPhone Users

To change the date and time on your iPhone, you need to follow the steps below.

  1. Go to the “General Settings” and access the “Date & Time” option.
  2. Switch the “Set Automatically” button off and set it to whichever date you wish.

Second Method: Using an Unofficial Website With a Wordle Archive

A much more practical method than the previous one is to pay a visit to an unofficial website such as Taq Karim’s Unofficial Wordle archive.

Here’s what you have to do:

  1. Go to Karim’s Unofficial Wordle.
  2. Click on the “Calendar” box to choose a different date. When setting your desired date, remember that the earliest you can opt for is June 19 2021.
  3. After clicking on the “Go!” button, you will quickly be redirected to the puzzle for your selected date.

There might be a short delay while the page initially loads, but it will take no more than a few seconds.

Although this archive was created for entertainment purposes, you can play it from your mobile and PC device. One of the most exciting parts is that you can start from the first puzzle and maintain your streak until the most recent one.

Another great way of accessing old Wordle games is through the Wayback Machine, which you can find on the Internet Archive website.

  1. Visit the Internet Archive site.
  2. Enter the Wordle direct link in the search box under the title.

This will take you to the game page archive to select your preferred year and date to access the game. The archive also has an easy way of navigating between different Wordles. Simply tap the arrows next to your selected date.

Third Method: Using a Wordle-Related Chrome Extension

There is an unofficial Chrome extension related to the previous Wordle challenges. You can find this extension on the Google Webstore and check the support page to learn more about the risks behind installing it. Since this extension is specifically for Chrome, make sure you have this browser installed on your device before proceeding. It might also be better to use this method on your PC only since mobile browsers usually cannot support this extension.

  1. Open your Chrome browser.
  2. Go to the Google Webstore’s extension page. The extension you are looking for is “Wordle Day Selector,” offered by Scott Batson.
  3. Click on “Add to Chrome” for the download and setup process to begin.

When this process is complete, a popup will inform you about managing the extension.

Also, make sure to pin the Wordle Day Selector extension to your Chrome bar:

  1. Click on the “Extensions” icon to view all your extensions and scroll until you find the right one.
  2. Select the pin icon so that it turns blue.

A new text box will appear in the top left corner when your extension is enabled. You can enter any number from zero to 2314 and click on “Set Wordle.” However, if you enter a number larger than 2314, there will only be an unresponsive Wordle grid.

To make it even easier, you do not need to enter a new number every single time. There are up and down arrows within the text box to easily change challenge numbers.

What to Do if You Run Out of Options

In case you might not be up to all the trouble of doing the previously mentioned tips to play old Wordle games, you can always wait for a new one. The Wordle system assigns a new word at midnight every day. Therefore, you can set the alarm to remind you to complete your daily challenge.
