An internet connection is nearly everywhere nowadays, but that doesn’t mean we always want to be connected. Sometimes it’s just nice to shut off and have time away from the world without interruption. If you want a blast on a game during that time, why not? That’s why we put this list of the best no WiFi racing games for iPhone together.
Everyone loves a good racing game. They are fast, frenetic, great fun, and excise that part of me that couldn’t drive that fast on the road. Some of these apps do require a connection to set up and authenticate but offer the option for offline play.
Horizon Chase – World Tour
Horizon Chase – World Tour is one of the best racing games for the iPhone full stop. It has console-quality graphics, fast gameplay, a range of cars and tracks to unlock, and a colorful graphics palette that works well on a phone. It has been around for a while now but has been steadily improved in that time.
It does need a newer iPhone to get the best out of it but, in return, delivers solid racing with less of the rubber band style AI that you tend to get in lower quality racers. The app is $2.99 and contains in-app purchases.
Need For Speed: No Limits
Need For Speed: No Limits continues the brand’s racing pedigree with another solid no WiFi racing game for iPhone. It is available for Android and iPhone and delivers the quality, graphics, gameplay, and excitement you would expect from Need For Speed. Yes, it’s Electronic Arts, but aside from that, this game is excellent.
The UI is slick, and navigation is good too. There is a huge range of customizations and unlocks and lots of tracks and events to try.
Real Racing 3
Real Racing 3 is another EA title but slightly different from Need for Speed. This is more about track racing rather than street racing and has a different feel altogether. It’s a more realistic racer with better modeling, more realistic interiors, and cars but less environmental detail. Again, it requires a newer iPhone to get the best out of it but rewards that with great gameplay.
The navigation and game design are excellent, and the tracks, events, and cars are all very well modeled and look authentic. While the tracks don’t offer the same level of interest as the streets in NFS, the racing action is such that it doesn’t matter. Again, the game says it requires a persistent connection, but you can play fine without it as long as you load the app before losing your internet connection. The app is free but contains in-app purchases.
Grid Autosport
Grid Autosport is a bit like Real Racing 3 in that’s it’s all about the track, and the same level of detailing and racing action is on show here too. There are over a hundred cars and tracks to unlock, lots of events, and the usual customization options to keep you occupied.
The design is very straightforward and makes it easy to get racing quickly. It’s a Codemasters game, so the graphics, physics, and movement are all top class, and the game performs well on a range of phones. The app costs $9.99 but gives you everything.
CSR Racing 2
CSR Racing 2 is a little different but no less entertaining. It’s still a no WiFi racing game for iPhone, but it’s all about drag racing this time. There are no amazing tracks, no steering, drifting, or any of that good stuff. This game is all about setup and timing. Getting the car right, getting your reactions right, and timing everything to the millisecond.
That may not be the most enticing description, but the game itself is very entertaining. The graphics and gameplay are good, the customization options are many, and the ability to hone your skills is always there. It’s an excellent game if you’re after something a little different. The app is free but contains in-app purchases.
Motorsport Manager Mobile 3
Motorsport Manager Mobile 3 is different again, as the title suggests. This time you’re a team manager that needs to hire drivers, mechanics, R&D, manage an HQ, develop technology, get sponsors, set up your cars for qualifying and racing, and a bunch of other tasks we never see on race day.
You don’t actually race in this game, but you do everything else to enable your team to perform. It’s a slower game but incredibly deep and engaging. If you’re into minutiae and planning, this could be the game for you. The app is $3.99 and offers in-app purchases.
Asphalt 8: Airborne
Asphalt 8: Airborne is a free racing game that is available for download on iOS devices (and macOS). With excellent graphics and a seamless response time, Asphalt 8 Airborne is slightly unique from the others on our list because it’s a drifting game with a slight edge. The ‘Airborne’ in the name refers to your ability to do some pretty cool stunts on a number of street tracks.
Offline racing games are an excellent way to pass the time no matter where you are. Not only can you save your cellular data, but you can also save battery life by putting your phone in Airplane Mode.
Rebel Racing
Rebel Racing by Hutch Games LTD is an excellent way to pass some time when you’re offline. Like some of the others we’ve listed you will need an internet connection to connect to a server, but once you have, you’re free to put your phone in Airplane Mode and race the computer.
The simple controls and beautiful scenery make this game even more enjoyable. The app is free to download and you can make a lot of progress without paying any money. But, there are in-app purchases as well. Upgrading and customizing your vehicle is another aspect of this game where you may be tempted to buy in-game cash.
Hill Climb 2
Hill Climb 2 is a great game for younger players, but it’s also quite fun for players of any age. It is free to download and free to play. What makes this game even more fun is you don’t have to worry about steering controls. The game gives us Sonic the Hedgehog vibes because you’re on a single track. But, it isn’t without risks either. You will need to use the accelerator and brake pedals wisely to keep yourself upright while passing other vehicles and winning the race.
While it isn’t as intuitive as some of the other games on our list, you can open the app and play completely without internet access. There’s no need to load the game before leaving a service area. Another great feature of this game is you won’t need to sign in or provide any personal information.

Unfortunately, no. You will need an internet connection and a valid Apple ID to download any applications to your iOS device.
