How to Check Your Samsung TV’s IP Address

Like any other device, every smart TV has an IP address. However, many people get confused when asked to check their TV’s IP address, simply because they can’t see it on the TV itself. You have to use your phone or computer instead.

How to Check Your Samsung TV's IP Address

In this article, we’ll show you a couple of ways to check your Samsung TV’s IP address. All you have to do is choose the method that’s most convenient.

Check IP Address Using Your Phone

We’ll start with the easiest method. You’re probably holding a smartphone in your hand right now, so all you have to do is download the Smart Things app. This popular app allows you to mirror your phone screen to the Samsung TV. In essence, you’re using your phone as a remote control.

Don’t worry if you don’t have a Samsung phone, as the app is available both for Android and iOS devices. Moreover, it’s free.

Before you start, make sure that your phone and your TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Otherwise, you won’t be able to see your Samsung TV. Once you’ve downloaded the app, here’s what you have to do:

  1. Log in to your Samsung account or create a new one.
  2. Tap on the Plus button to add a new device.
  3. Select your Samsung TV.
  4. Go to the Settings.
  5. Open General Settings.
  6. Select Network.
  7. Select Network Status.
  8. Open the IP Settings.
  9. You’ll then get to see your Samsung TV’s IP address.

There you have it! If you already had the Smart Things app, it won’t take more than a couple of seconds. On the other hand, if you haven’t used the app before, we hope you’ll find it useful. You can connect your phone with many devices in your house and use it to control them even when you’re not at home.

Check IP Address Using Your Router

As you may know, the router shows you a list of all devices connected to your network, as well as their IP addresses. You can check them either from your phone or your computer. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Open your browser and go to the Router Login Page.
  2. Log in with your credentials.
  3. Open the List of connected devices.
  4. Select your Samsung TV.
  5. You should now see its IP address.

That’s all you have to do! However, bear in mind that the list may look different on each router. Some routers aren’t able to recognize every device. Instead, they may label them as “local host”.

A great thing about the router is that you can use it to check the IP addresses of multiple devices at the same time. Therefore, if you need to check more than one IP address, this is the fastest way to do so.

Check IP Address Using Discovering Tools

Nowadays, there are a lot of apps you can use to find out what devices are connected to a particular network. We’ve used Fing, a well-known and trustworthy app. Of course, there are a lot of other apps you can try. Just be careful and always read the reviews because some of them could be scams.

If you decide to use Fing, you can download it to your Android or iOS device for free. Again, before you start, make sure that your Samsung TV and your phone are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Here’s what you have to do next:

  1. Open the Fing app.
  2. Tap on Devices.
  3. Tap on Scan.
  4. After a couple of seconds, you should get a list of all devices connected to your Wi-Fi.
  5. Under each device, you can see their IP address.
  6. Just find your Samsung TV on the list and read its address.

That’s it! Most people use this app to check whether there are any unknown devices connected to their Wi-Fi network. It’s good to have this app if you suspect that someone is using your Wi-Fi without your knowledge.

Moreover, you can use this app to check your Internet speed quickly. The app also notifies you when the Internet is down in your area.

Log in to what? Be more specific so we can help you better. Anyways, the link in the website for the Samsung SmartThings app went to the Serbian language page or was a hacked page in the Play Store. It has been corrected to the US English page. Aside from that note, go to “your” Play Store” and search for “SmartThings Samsung” to find the correct app. Basically, the Samsung SmartThings app needs you to create a Samsung account or log in (open the app and tap on the sign-in button in the top-right section, then register there. For the router, the admin panel requires login credentials set by you or by default—you’ll need to check the instructions for it, either in the manual or online. Hope that helps.
