Google announces Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Home Hub and Pixel Slate

Google has just announced a slew of new products at its annual MadeByGoogle event.

The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are finally official, as is the Pixel Home Hub and a newly-announced Pixel Slate. We’ll be updating our individual pages in time, but you can get a brief glance at what we know already below.

What’s happening at the October Google event:

Google’s Rick Osterloh, SVP of Hardware, opened the show by talking about the software tools and innovations coming to its devices in the future. A lot seems to be about new Android features, along with Apple-like screen time and app time logging tools. But the real stars of the show were the brand new devices and Google’s excellent design language.

The announcement of the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL was a no-brainer. It’s been a long time coming and finally Google has officially revealed their existence.

As expected, it’s only an incremental upgrade in terms of hardware, but it’s actually really pushing the limits of what’s capable on a phone thanks to Google’s AI platforms. Once again it has a brilliant camera on the back.

We’ll update as we get more information from the show.

Google Home Hub

Leaked online only a few weeks ago, Google’s Home Hub is designed to be Google’s answer to the Amazon Echo Show. Interestingly, it doesn’t come with a camera, and isn’t made for phone calls, but is instead a helpful hub to your smart home, interacting with every smart device you own.

Google also hopes people will use it as an assistant tool for cooking or playing music.

We’ll update with more information as it comes.

Google Pixel Slate

The Pixel Slate is Google’s answer to Surface Go and the iPad Pro. Running on ChromeOS, it’s a portable powerhouse designed to be a great tool for content creators and content consumers.

While Google didn’t reveal specific hardware details, they’ll come in time. For now, all you need to know is that this hybrid device is on the way for those wanting a Pixelbook but in a slimmer, more portable and sofa-friendly form.
