Google has announced that it is Google Home smart speaker is going bilingual following the introduction of 22 new languages. This update carries across all Google Assistant-enabled devices, meaning you will be able to speak to your Google Home, Google Home Mini, Google Home Max, and even Pixel Buds in multiple languages.
Google Assistant already supports English, Dutch, French, Italian, German, Japanese, and Spanish. By the end of the year, new languages will be supported so you can talk in your native language – or second language – and English when talking to any Google Assistant-enabled device.
This is a great addition for those raising children in a bilingual household, or for those who are trying to learn and use a new language. You can’t overload your Google Home with multiple languages, so if you speak more than one other language you’ll need to decide which language you’ll be using most alongside English. If German is your native language, it’s not yet clear if you can add Japanese and switch between the two or if it has to be English and one other language.
