Newest JBL Speaker Out Now
In the 2022 CES, JBL announced that it would release some new speakers:
Of the four products, the PartyBox Encore Essential is the only one currently available. The rest are expected to hit stores this summer.
JBL PartyBox Encore Essential
Released in March 2022, the JBL PartyBox Encore Essential is one of the newest JBL speakers. Part of the PartyBox speaker series, there are two variations: the JBL PartyBox Encore Essential and the JBL PartyBox Encore.
Here are some of the features the speaker has to offer:
High Portability – The speaker has a compact design and weighs in at just 13 pounds. It also has a comfortable and intuitive built-in handle. As a result, you can always bring the party with you wherever you go. Also, the Encore Essential has a PW67 waterproof and dustproof rating, making it the perfect speaker for outdoor surroundings.
Six Hours of Battery Life – The Encore Essential can last up to 6 hours on a single charge. While this is a small number compared to other speakers like the Boombox 3 and JBL Pulse 4, it’s possible to charge the speaker while in use.
RGB Lights – The Encore essential isn’t just about the music. It’s about music with lights. They bring a whole new vibe, especially at parties and celebrations. Also, you can easily manipulate these lights in the comfort of the JBL PartyBox app.
Compatibility With the JBL PartyBox App – With the aid of the JBL PartyBox App, you can control the speaker from the comfort of your mobile phone. You can also take care of all the software updates through the app.
Here are some additional features:
- Light controls
- DJ sounds
- Karaoke effects
- Battery settings
- Bassboost
- Equalizer
- Bluetooth connection
- True Wireless stereo you can use to pair it with other speakers
Integrates with the True Wireless Stereo Technology – With support for TWS technology, you can pair your PartyBox Encore Essential with another speaker of its kind to get an even deeper bass. Unfortunately, you can only pair one speaker at a time.
In terms of price, the PartyBox Encore Essential retails for $300, and you can find it in online stores, including Amazon.
The Difference Between the PartyBox Encore Essential and the PartyBox Encore
Unlike the PartyBox Encore Essential, the Encore comes with two wireless speakers that cost an extra $100. Also, the PartyBox Encore has more battery life compared to its sister speaker, with a total playtime of 10 hours.
What to Expect From JBL in the 2022 Summer
Here are some of the offerings you can expect from JBL by the end of the year:
JBL Boombox 3
In 2022 CSE, JBL announced the release of the JBL Boombox 3. As the name suggests, this will be an upgrade to the existing JBL Boombox 2. The new speaker is expected to hit the market and retail stores in the summer. In addition, the speaker will cost $499.95, which is quite pricy. But do the speaker’s features justify the price?
Here are some noteworthy features to consider:
A Deeper Bass – JBL claims that the new speaker will have a deeper bass compared to Boombox 2. This is achieved by integrating features such as a 3-way speaker system which has a robust Racetrack k-shaped subwoofer, dual tweeters, and double mid-range drivers. Besides the deeper bass, these features guarantee an intense clarity suitable for large crowds and outdoor surroundings.
Support for Bluetooth 5.3 technology – With support for the latest Bluetooth version, the Boombox 3 is expected to cover ranges of up to or even exceeding 40 feet. Great connectivity ranges are already seen in the JBL PartyBox Encore Essential, which integrates Bluetooth Version 5.1.
Long Battery life – Like its predecessor, the Boombox 3 will also offer a battery life of up to 24 hours, allowing for the longest playtimes. This is also convenient as it will reduce the number of recharges required to keep the speaker running.
Integrated Power Bank – Outdoor activities call for preparation when emergencies arise. Boombox 3 comes to the rescue with a built-in power bank that can be used to recharge your devices with a USB cable.
Water and Dust Repellant – With an IP67 rating, the Boombox 3 will be a suitable match for outdoor activities such as parties and days out on the beach. You’ll not have to worry about water spills or sand and dust ruining your speaker.
Ultimately, the JBL Boombox 3 is expected to be an improvement on the Boombox 2, with better sound quality, even though the Boombox 2 is already doing a great job.
JBL Pulse 5
Another summer offering from JBL is the Pulse 5. While the speaker isn’t that different from its predecessor the Pulse 4, here are some noteworthy features to look forward to:
A Built-in Carrying Strap – JBL is putting an extra effort into making Pulse 5 more portable by integrating a strap. However, the speaker isn’t just built for the outdoors, considering its acrylic body.
Extended Light Feature – What makes the Pulse model an enticing purchase is the light feature. In Pulse 5, the lights will extend to the passive radiator. While the feature is unnecessary, some people might find it really cool.
Differences in Design – With Pulse 5, no major differences in design are expected. As mentioned, the design is quite similar to that of Pulse 4, except for the enlarged JBL logo on the Pulse 5 and a few more tweaks in the proportions of the speaker.
Instrument Suppression – Instrument suppression was a problem with the Pulse 4. JBL is trying to remedy this by including a dedicated tweeter and woofer into the new model.
Support for Bluetooth 5.3 – Just like the Boombox 3, the Pulse 5 will be integrating the latest version of Bluetooth. Consequently, wider connectivity ranges are to be expected.
JBL PartyBox Encore
The JBL PartyBox Encore is the final speaker on the list. It’s part of JBL’s PartyBox speaker series and is expected to hit the market in the summer of 2022. Unlike the Encore Essential, that’s already out in the retail stores, the PartyBox Encore will feature two extra wireless speakers, which are especially suitable for karaoke lovers.
Here are some additional features of the speaker:
Ten Hours of Playtime – Unlike its sibling the Encore Essential, the PartyBox Encore will offer up to 10 hours of playtime on a single charge. This isn’t the best battery life compared to speakers such as the Boombox 2, which can last for 24 hours. But at least it’s long enough to keep the party going all night long.
Two Wireless Microphones – If you’re a karaoke lover, this speaker is for you. It will feature two microphones, but you’ll have to pay extra to get your hands on them.
The rest of the features will be quite similar to the Encore Essential, which is already out.
Finally, the PartyBox essential will retail for $399.95.

JBL is always working hard to improve the world’s audio through robust speakers, and this year was no exception. The newly launched Encore Essential is already getting positive reviews from consumers, and the company’s fans are eagerly anticipating the new releases, especially the Boombox 3.
