The Complete Disney Plus Release Schedule

Are you a huge fan of Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, and National Geographic? If so, you must be enjoying Disney Plus, the corporation’s new streaming platform. Besides the massive amounts of content, such as classic Disney animated movies, or the majority of the Marvel Avengers franchise, and Star Wars movies, there’ll be brand new content too.

Disney is advancing on all fronts, adding new shows and movies to each of their franchises. Read on for a complete Disney Plus release schedule, including exact dates for all confirmed Disney content.

New Disney Content

There’s so much to talk about regarding Disney-owned franchises and what’s to come in the future. For easier digestion, we’ve separated all of the upcoming Disney Plus schedules into individual paragraphs for each of the franchises.

Since this article is all about Disney Plus, let’s start with everyone’s favorite: Disney animations. Disney is known for bringing to life quality of animation and wonderful fairytales. Everyone hopes that they’ll continue in the same vein for decades to come.

For now, Disney has announced only three short animated shows. The first one is Chip ‘n’ Dale, which is currently in production. It should have around 40 episodes lasting for seven minutes, in a classic comedy style, without any voice acting.

The next is Short Circuit, a short animated series which will start airing in the spring of 2020. Very little is known about this show, only that it will be a bunch of short movies, inspired by ideas from the Disney animation staff.

Into the Unknown: Making Frozen 2 is going to show Disney animators in action, and reveal some of the secrets of making one of the best animated movies of all-time.

Disney Live-Action Content

At present, Disney seems to be more focused on live action shows and movies. A classic, Lady and the Tramp, already got a live-action rework. Other live-action series include the Diary of a Female President, produced by Gina Rodriguez.

A Love, Simon series is also confirmed, a story about young gay men, featuring the original actor Nick Robinson as a producer.

Stargirl is a film that should premiere at the beginning of 2020, with Julia Hart as the director of a coming-of-age teen movie.

Muppets Now is a new iteration of the famous Muppets that should come out in 2020, with many celebrity guests.

Togo is a movie that should be released by the end of 2019, staring Willem Dafoe. Based on a true story, it sounds very promising. Dafoe plays Leonhard Seppala, who, along with his sled dog, Togo, saves children from an epidemic in the harsh weather of Alaska.

Big Shot is a ten-episode show written and produced by Dean Dorey and David E. Kelley. It’s about a college basketball coach of an all-female team.

The new live-action content also includes Fiora and Ulysses, Secret Society of Second Born Royals, Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made, and Safety, all of which are already in production and should release very soon.

Some Disney channel originals are also getting a reboot. Phineas and Ferb Candace Against the Universe should launch in 2020. The Lizzie McGuire reboot will have Hillary Duff as the main character, following the story of the now 30-year old Lizzie.

New Marvel Content

Besides Disney’s original content, Marvel movies and TV shows have also compelled many people to sign up for Disney Plus. The new Marvel series, in particular, sounds very promising.

Loki will feature Tom Hiddleston, in an alternative universe where he survived and took off with the Tesseract. This highly anticipated show should release in spring 2021.

Hawkeye will feature Jeremy Renner training a new girl archer, Kate Bishop, to take over his role. This series will come in late 2021.

Marvel’s Hero Project is a documentary series focusing on real-life heroes and their impact on society.

WandaVision will feature Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany in the return of the amazing power couple from the Avengers. The show will have six episodes directed by Matt Shakman, slated for release in early 2021.

Falcon and the Winter Soldier will feature Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan in their original roles, alongside some new characters, like the villain Zemo and Sharon Carter. This series will launch in the fall of 2020.

There are many other Marvel projects in the works, including She-Hulk, Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, Marvel 616, and Marvel’s What If.

New Star Wars Content

Nobody will stop talking about the Mandalorian anytime soon. The amazing new Star Wars series will be followed by Star Wars: The Clone Wars, the final (7th) season of the Clone Wars saga. This exciting finale should launch in February 2020.

There are also two more Star Wars series in the works, one focusing on Obi-Wan Kenobi, which will start filming in 2020. The second series will continue the story from Rogue One, a prequel, with the showrunner Stephen Schiff.

New Pixar Content

There’s some exciting news from Pixar too. Besides Forky Asks a Question, and SparkShorts, which are already available, there are two new series in the works.

Lamp Life will feature Bo Peep, a beloved Toy Story character, chronicling what she did between Toy Story 2 and the newest installment, Toy Story 4

Monsters at Work is a continuation of the Monsters, Inc. saga, slated for release in 2020. It will star Ben Feldman as Tylor Tuskmon, John Goodman as Sully, and Billy Crystal as Mike.

Tons of New Content

Disney has certainly stepped up their game and showed other big streaming services how to attract an audience. As outlined above, besides the massive amount of content they already have to offer on their platform, they’re working on loads of new series and movies.
