Since Disney Plus focuses on exclusivity, you won’t be able to find much of their content on other streaming platforms.
For that reason, it would be hugely annoying if an error prevented you from accessing Disney Plus channels. Especially if you’re eager to see the latest episode of The Mandalorian, for example. One such error is Error Code 39. Luckily, there are solutions to solve this.
What Is Error Code 39?
When you encounter Error Code 39 on Disney Plus, you’ll notice the following message: “This means that the video you are trying to watch cannot be watched at this time. This could be a rights availability or other issue with Disney+”.
Although the message sounds pretty severe, it usually appears when you connect too many devices to Disney Plus at the same time. If that isn’t the case, then perhaps you’re trying to access the service using your Xbox One console. As reported by many users, streaming Disney Plus simultaneously over their Xbox One and another device, will usually bring up the Error 39.
Too Many Devices in Use
Disney Plus allows you to connect up to four devices at the same time. If you try to connect a fifth device, you’ll run into the Error Code 39. To connect the one you want, first you’ll have to log out from Disney Plus on one of the other devices.
To do so, follow these steps:
- Open the Disney Plus app on one of your devices.
- Click on your profile icon in the top right corner.
- Click “Log Out” and that’s it.
Once you do this, you’ll be able to connect to Disney Plus with the device you want.
Accessing Disney Plus with Xbox One
As mentioned above, it might seem impossible to stream Disney Plus on both your Xbox One and another device at the same time. To remedy this, make sure no other devices are connected to Disney Plus.
The safest way around this issue is to logout from the Disney Plus app on each of them, as explained in the previous section. That way, only your Xbox One will have the connection with the streaming service, allowing you to bypass Error Code 39.
Of course, it won’t hurt to restart your Xbox as well. This will help the console establish a fresh connection with Disney Plus server, potentially resolving any other issue you may have.
It’s also possible that someone in your household is watching a movie or their favorite show on Disney Plus at the moment. If that’s the case, simply wait for them to finish before you log them out their device as well.
Switching to Another HDMI Port
Besides the solutions mentioned above, there’s one more thing you can do to resolve the Xbox connectivity issues. A number of users reported that switching HDMI ports allowed them to resolve Error Code 39.
In most cases, your console is connected to your TV via an HDMI cable. To solve the error issue, simply connect the cable to another HDMI port on your TV.
Popular Things to Watch on Disney Plus
Hopefully, one these solutions helped you get rid of the error 39. Now that you’re up and running, you might want to check out some of the popular titles available on Disney Plus. For example, there are two TV shows definitely worth watching. The first one is the new Star Wars series, The Mandalorian. And if you’re into long-running classic shows, The Simpsons could be the perfect fit.
The Mandalorian
The Mandalorian is the first-ever live-action TV show in the Star Wars universe. Released on the day of Disney Plus launch, the show was the platform’s top selling point. Following the bounty hunter simply called Mando, it explores the Star Wars universe right after the fall of the evil Galactic Empire.
It picks up a couple of years after the events in Return of the Jedi. This is really interesting, as the show explores how the galaxy developed with the Empire gone. Thanks to the talented actor Pedro Pascal, Mando has become one of the most popular Star Wars characters for many fans. And that’s without removing his helmet for almost the entire first season.
The Simpsons
With 31 seasons under its belt, The Simpsons is the longest-running American animated TV series ever. And you can watch all of it on Disney Plus. Thanks to Matt Groening’s satirical vision of the U.S. working class, it brings a lot of humor and social commentary at the same time.
With the 31st season coming to an end, there are no signs that the show is going away anytime soon. Currently counting 684 episodes in total, there are at least another 14 episodes you can look forward to in the future.
Problem Solved
With the Error Code 39 gone, you can finally enjoy Disney Plus on your Xbox One. With so many things to stream, you’re guaranteed to find hundreds of hours of entertainment on this streaming platform.
