Unlimited OneDrive storage will soon be available to all Office 365 customers as part of their existing subscription, Microsoft has announced.
The update began rolling out to Office 365 Home, Personal and University subscribers today and will continue over the course of the next few months.
OneDrive for Business customers will have to wait until the beginning of 2015, however, with First Release customers getting unlimited OneDrive storage first. The delay, Microsoft said, is in line with its promise to provide “ample notification” to its business clients for significant changes to the service.
The move follows the company’s decision in June to boost Office 365 users’ OneDrive Storage to 1TB and, once again, undercuts the storage plans offered by rivals Dropbox and Google significantly.
Dropbox for Work’s storage capacity is capped at 1TB per user on its standard plan, although you can apply for more. Google Drive for Work’s bottom tier storage is capped at 30GB, with an intermediate 1TB tier, with unlimited storage available if you have six users or more on your account.
On the consumer side, Dropbox is capped at 1TB, as is Google’s standard $10 subscription, with neither offering unlimited storage at all.
Office 365 Home, Personal and University subscribers can put their accounts at the top of the list to receive unlimited storage by signing up here, although they will have to agree to receiving various promotional emails.
